Dutch tap water is the best in Europe

The 10 Dutch water companies have been successful in getting their image right with the general public. A few go on to advertise that we Dutch have the best quality tap water in Europe. The government has announced that it is investing 40 million euros in a study to make treatment plants filter finer. The results will be some time coming. Anno March 2024, 1 water utility has opened a new plant at 1 of its 11 sites at a cost of 1.5 million. This is said to now filter out 80% of drug residues. They expect to have the remaining 10 sites equipped with better water filtration by 2035.

The 10 water utilities together need to invest 200 billion euros to clean up asbestos cement pipes. This money is not there. They carry out the replacement but mouthfuls otherwise they would go bankrupt. So both water treatment and part of the water supply network are not yet in order.

Over the past 20 years, decentralised water treatment technology abroad has continued to advance. Water was more expensive and water quality was less. This created a competitive market and patents were issued on water filters for home use. This advanced technology is now readily available for a kitchen. This is an important consideration when buying a water ioniser.

I read on the internet that a water ioniser is nonsense.
