Everyone in North Holland thinks the tap water comes from the dunes. There, the water is pumped in and filtered with dune sand for plus minus 3 months.

Who is responsible for monitoring the PFAS toxic discharges? The duty to report and duty to permit are two issues where there is great discrepancy between them. Rijkswaterstaat started a pilot project in 2022 on intensifying monitoring. However, the environment department is beating around the bush.
PWN currently has the capacity and resources to filter some of the toxins from the water. The concentrations may rise further and then PWN will have to opt for less sustainable and costly methods.
